Find out more about 100 Voices
  • Why 100 Voices?
We believe that sharing personal experiences is a powerful way to inspire, motivate, and educate. By amplifying the voices of those working tirelessly to improve patient care, we hope to: Inspire and motivate: Hearing stories from peers can ignite passion and drive positive change. Facilitate learning: Real-world examples and lessons learned offer valuable insights and practical guidance. Strengthen the improvement community: Foster a sense of shared purpose and encourage collaboration. Raise the profile of improvement: Highlight the importance of improvement in improving healthcare. Demonstrate impact: Provide compelling evidence of the positive impact of improvement. By capturing the diverse voices driving improvement in healthcare, encompassing a wide range of backgrounds, roles, and methodologies, this project strives to create a rich and inclusive collection of stories that inspire current and future generations of improvers.
  • How can I get involved?
There are several ways to be part of the 100 Voices movement: Spread the word: Help us reach as many people as possible by sharing information about 100 Voices with your networks. Collaborate with us: 100 Voices thrives on collaboration! We welcome participation from individuals and organisations who want to contribute their expertise, share their stories, or support the project in other ways. Contact hello@theqihub.com to find out more about how you can help.
  • Who can be nominated?
Anyone with an inspiring story to tell about their experience of healthcare improvement, regardless of their role, seniority, or background. We're looking for diverse voices (including patients and carers) with inspiring stories and valuable lessons to share. We are focussing on the stories of individuals, so sadly we can't accept nominations for a team or group.
  • What are the selection criteria for the voices?
We are looking for stories that will inspire, educate, and motivate others to engage in improvement in healthcare. We will prioritise diversity in terms of roles, backgrounds, and experiences to ensure a broad range of perspectives.
  • Does my nominee need to have used a specific improvement methodology to be nominated?
No, not at all! We welcome nominations for individuals with inspiring stories of healthcare improvement, regardless of the specific methodology they used. The most important thing is that they have made a positive impact on healthcare quality and have a compelling story to share that will inspire others.
  • What happens when someone is nominated?
We'll reach out to each nominee to: Celebrate their nomination: Let them know they've been nominated as a QI hero by someone in their network. Gauge their interest: See if they're interested in participating as a "voice" in the project. Provide information: Share details about the project, the interview process, and what being involved entails. The final "voices" will be selected from those who express interest and consent to participate. We may also explore featuring different voices in various versions of the publication, ensuring a wide range of perspectives are shared.
  • Is "100 Voices" the final title for the project?
"100 Voices " is our current working title, but it might evolve! We're open to feedback and suggestions as the project develops. We want a title that truly captures the essence of these inspiring stories and resonates with the improvement community. If you have any brilliant ideas, we'd love to hear them!
  • Will there really be exactly 100 voices?
100 Voices is aspirational - we aim to capture a diverse and inspiring range of experiences. The final number of voices featured may vary depending on the number of nominations and the availability of participants. What's most important is quality, not quantity and showcasing the richness and variety within the improvement community.
  • Will the book be free of charge or will it raise money for a cause? Is this a not-for-profit initiative?
That's a great question! We're still finalising the details about the book's distribution and any associated costs. However, our primary aim is to make these inspiring stories accessible to as many people as possible. Here's what we can tell you so far: We're exploring options to make the book available in various formats (e.g., audiobook, ebook, print) and through different channels to reach a wide audience. Depending on production and distribution costs, it is likely that there will be a charge for the book. However, we'll strive to keep it as affordable as possible. 100 Voices is a not-for-profit initiative. Any proceeds from the book will be reinvested back into the project to support future initiatives that promote and celebrate quality improvement in healthcare. We'll provide further updates on this page as soon as we have them.
  • Who is behind 100 Voices?
100 Voices is led by Dr Andrea Gibbons and is a collaborative project. The project is generously funded by a Supporting Q Connections Award. Our partners include the Academy of Fabulous Stuff, the Q Community, NHS IMPACT, Somerset NHS FT and many others.
  • Where can I find the Terms of Reference for the Advisory Group?
Here! Please note this is a draft. The Terms of Reference will be reviewed at the first Advisory Group meeting and adapted as needed throughout the project.

This project is funded through the Q community's Supporting Q Connections programme, through the Health Foundation.  It is supported by the Academy of Fabulous Stuff and Somerset NHS FT.
