NHS IMPACT is a national initiative led by NHS England to improve the quality of care across the NHS. It’s all about helping NHS teams and organisations work together to make services better for patients, staff, and communities. It aims to create a more consistent and effective approach to quality improvement (QI) across the whole NHS.
NHS IMPACT is about working smarter, not harder, to make the NHS better for patients and staff. It’s a team effort, bringing together everyone in the NHS to focus on what really matters: high-quality, safe, and compassionate care. It does this by:
-
Giving staff the skills and tools they need to improve care.
-
Encouraging teamwork and innovation.
-
Making sure improvements are sustainable and benefit everyone.
NHS IMPACT focuses on five key areas to drive improvement:
-
Patient Safety: Reducing harm and making care safer.
-
Patient Experience: Making sure patients have a positive experience when using NHS services.
-
Clinical Effectiveness: Ensuring treatments and care are based on the best evidence and achieve the best outcomes.
-
Staff Experience: Supporting NHS staff to work in a positive, healthy, and productive environment.
-
Equity: Making sure everyone has fair access to high-quality care, no matter who they are or where they live.
NHS Impact is led by NHS England, but it works closely with local NHS organisations, regional teams and national partners. It’s designed to be flexible, so NHS teams can adapt it to their local needs while still following national standards and priorities.
